Foundation created to honor Oberheim

Monticello’s long-awaited recreation complex may get a boost from a brand new foundation: The one being formed by the family of Chris Oberheim, the Champaign police officer and Monticello resident killed in the line of duty last month.

Officer Oberheim’s wife, Amber, told the Monticello city council on June 14 that she can think of no better way to pay tribute to her husband — who was also a passionate longtime coach — than by helping make the 30-acre Monticello recreation complex a realty.
